Salem Red Sox drop doubleheader to Potomac

Second-place Salem dropped both ends of a doubleheader at home to Northern Division leader Potomac last night, 9-4 and 4-0.

The first 7-inning game was tied at 1 until Potomac erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning.

The fifth inning was again the big frame for the Nationals in the nightcap, breaking open a scoreless game with all four runs.

With the sweep, Potomac increases its division lead to 5-and-a-half games over Salem and Lynchburg with the first half ending this Sunday.

Lynchburg lost to Frederick Monday night in 10 innings, 1-0.
