Minor league report: Hillcats, Red Sox fall; D-Braves crush Bluefield
ZEBULON, NC (WSET/Hillcats) - The Lynchburg Hillcats dropped the second game of the the four-game set against Carolina, losing 3-2 to the Mudcats on Saturday.
The Hillcats (42-48, 13-10) went just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate (47-45, 13-9).
The Mudcats broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning, when Ryan Aguilar plated Dallas Carroll with a sacrifice fly.
In the ninth, Lynchburg put the tying and go-ahead runs on base when Li-Jen Chu and Jorma Rodriguez singled, but Luke Barker (Save, 13) struck out Alexis Pantoja to end the game.
WILMINGTON, DE. (WSET/Salem Red Sox) - The Salem Red Sox fell behind by five runs before recording an out and never recovered Saturday night, enduring a 16-1 drubbing at the hands of the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium.
Bobby Dalbec provided Salem’s only run of the game with a solo dinger in the fourth inning, his seventh homer of the month and league-best 22nd of the year.
BLUEFIELD, W.V. (WSET) - The Danville Braves exploded on the road against first place Bluefield Saturday night, winning 17-4. Danville (15-9) have now won 5 in a row.
Up 1-0 in the 2nd inning, Danville plated 6 more in the 2nd, then put up 11 more runs in the 6th inning. Every member of the starting lineup for Danville got at least one hit, and scored at least one run.
