Buies Creek takes series opener over Hillcats 12-5

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Buies Creek broke open a 1-all game with four runs in the fourth, then six more in the fifth en route to a 12-5 win at Lynchburg Monday night.

The Astros outhit Lynchburg 10-4 for the game. The Hillcats did rally with two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh.

But the damage had already been done, Abraham Toro-Hernandez drove in three runs for Buies Creek, Ronnie Dawson, Osvaldo Duarte and Kristian Trompiz all added two apiece.

Li-Jen Chu and Gavin Collins drove in two runs apiece for Lynchburg.

First baseman Anthony Miller got the ball for the Hillcats in the ninth, making his professional pitching debut. The right hander gave up an infield single, but retired the next three Astros hitters.

Game two of the series is Tuesday night, 6:30 in Lynchburg.
