UVa riding its defense to 15-and-1 start

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WSET) - Lot of people are talking about UVa basketball, number three in the nation.

The Cavs are 15-and-1, they've held ALL 16 opponents under 50 percent shooting, seven teams to less than 50 points.

Syracuse did score 61 Tuesday, one of only four teams to score 60 or more against UVa this year.

But the Orange shot just 38 percent, leading scorer Tyus Battle held to 12 points, seven below his average.

Tony Bennett, VIRGINIA HEAD COACH (CAVS 15-1, 4-0 ACC), said "We got a little better as the game wore on, whether it was Devon, Kyle, or De'Andre on there making him shoot those tough shots. And just kind of over the course of the game, if you're going to make them they're all going to be contested. And I think most of them were and that hopefully the percentages bear out contested shots over, you know, a 40-minute game."
