UVa Football spending extra time on the run game

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WSET) - UVa Football's spring practice finale is two weeks from Saturday, April 28th, at 2 o'clock.

Head coach Bronco Mendenhall says the Cavaliers are spending extra time working on the run game.

Virginia ranked last in the ACC in rushing last season.

But the Cavs now believe with a dual-threat quarterback in Bryce Perkins, the overall run game will improve.

Jay Fieler, VIRGINIA SENIOR OFFENSIVE LINEMAN, said "Now you can make the defense stay true and they can't just pack the box and just jam it inside. So I mean I think it's huge, it's really opened up our run game this spring."

Jordan Ellis, VIRGINIA SENIOR RUNNING BACK, said "You can see against our defense, I mean they tell us all the time since spring started, they're so confused because they don't know who has the ball. Stuff like that, I mean it's opening up everything."
