Lynchburg lacrosse opens at #1 Salisbury Saturday
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Lynchburg men's lacrosse, coming off a trip to the Elite 8 last year, opens its season on the road Saturday.
And what a way to kick off the schedule, the Hornets play at two-time defending national champ and this year's preseason number one Salisbury in Maryland.
Lynchburg gave the Sea Gulls all they could handle in last year's opener in the Hill City, the Hornets losing a 9-8 heartbreaker.
Lynchburg returns five All-ODAC players and has added some talented freshmen to this year's squad.
Evan Lombardo, HORNETS JUNIOR ATTACK, said "You know everybody's come back stronger and faster and everybody's skills have gotten better. And everybody's team chemistry is really high."
Seamus McDonald, HORNETS JUNIOR DEFENDER, said "Coach always like to start off our schedule pretty hot and, you know, get some big games in there right away so we can go in there and, you know, play some of the best and show why we're one of the best as well."
CJ Santora, HORNETS SENIOR GOALTENDER, said "You know I think we really evaluated what we wanted to do. We got in the weight room, got on the wall, and really became better lacrosse players as a whole."
