LU men open Tournament with 65-52 win over N.C. A&T

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Caleb Homesley led three Liberty players in double figures with 16 points as the Flames opened the postseason CollegeInsider. com Tournament with a 65-52 win over North Carolina A&T.

With the win, the Flames match last year’s win total as they improve to 21-14 on the season.

After a slow start on offense in the first half, Liberty was able to turn the corner in the second half shooting 59 percent and nearly 67 percent from beyond the arc. Keegan McDowell caught fire for the Flames after intermission, scoring Liberty's first eight points in the second half. McDowell scored 15 points, including 4-of-5 from three-point land.

Scottie James posted his 11th double-double of the season with 11 points and tied a game-high with 12 rebounds for the Flames.

Liberty played without injured starters Ryan Kemrite and Lovell Cabill.

The Flames will now await their opponent in the next round of the CIT set to begin on March 17.
