Staunton River's Overstreet signs commitment to Richmond
MONETA, Va. (WSET) - 2-time finalist, and 2016 "Football Friday Player of the Year" winner Grayson Overstreet, officially signed his commitment letter to play collegiate football at the University of Richmond.
Overstreet finished his career as the all time VHSL leader in career rushing yards, touchdowns and total points. Even though the Spiders are planning on him playing primarily on defense, Overstreet says he's just excited to be part of the team in Richmond, saying "You know, I've always told myself if I'm fortunate enough to play at the next level, wherever they want to put me to be useful, I'm gonna be at. I had a great team, I'm never gonna forget playing here on Friday nights."
His coach at Staunton River, Chuck Poston, heaped praise upon his now-former running back, continuing with "I hate to see him go, but at the same time, this is one of the true joys of coaching is to get to see something like this. And like I said, I'm happy for the University of Richmond, because I know they got an unbelieveable football player, and an even better person."
