Staunton River senior class changes football culture

MONETA, Va. (WSET) - Heritage, Appomattox County and Salem are the three area teams playing for state titles this Saturday.

Staunton River took a 13-and-0 unbeaten mark into the weekend before falling to Heritage. But the last couple of seasons have really changed the culture for the Golden Eagles. Senior Grayson Overstreet finished one of the best careers in VHSL history, the state's all-time leader in career rushing yards, more than nine thousand, career touchdowns 142 and career points. Definitely a senior class to remember.

Chuck Poston, STAUNTON RIVER HEAD COACH, said "They're gonna look back 20 years from now and understand what they've done. Most people get to read about history, a select few get to make it. And these kids have made history. And you know they've changed this school forever. And I just hope they realize that."
