Appomattox County HS Golf wins state championship
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Appomattox County High School golf team claimed their second station championship in the last 4 years on Tuesday, after a dominant final round at Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg.
Appomattox finished the two day tournament with a total of 626 strokes, 14 shots ahead of second place Poquoson. Union High finished third with 644, Wilson Memorial with 664.
Senior Ryan Sayre led the way for the Raiders, shooting a two-day total of 146 (74 and 72), earning All-State honors. Senior Jillian Drinkard finished in the top 10, posting a two-day total of 149 (76-73).
This is the first golf championship for Appomattox County since 2014.
