Three-Peat: L.C.A. Makes School History With Another Title
The Liberty Christian Academy Bulldogs made history Saturday. They defeated Collegiate 31-19 to win the VISAA Division I state championship for the third consecutive season.
The game was played in Richmond.
Both L.C.A. quarterback Matt Lewis and wide receiver B.J. Farrow were named as two of the ten finalists for the Football Friday Player of the Year Award and they played like it with a state ring on the line. Farrow hauled in two of Lewis' touchdown passes in the victory. One catch in the words of coach Frank Rocco "was incredible."
L.C.A. (9-2) trailed 13-10 at halftime but scored three touchdowns in the second half and only allowed nine more points on defense.
Collegiate's quarterback is Wilton Speight. He has verbally committed to Michigan. LCA intercepted him four times and held him to 152 passing yards. A season ago LCA also contained a Big Ten recruit, Fork Union/Penn State's Christian Hackenberg.
