Terriers' Basham removed from line up for Friday game vs. Staunton River

ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) - According to the Roanoke Times, William Byrd head coach Jeff Highfill has removed senior running back Larry Basham from the lineup for Friday's heavily anticipated Football Friday "Game of the Week" against undefeated Staunton River.

In the article, Highfill does not elaborate on any reason for Basham's removal, nor does he confirm that Basham is still a member of the team. A 2016 Football Friday "Player of the Year" finalist, Basham was having another outstanding season for the Terriers, rushing for nearly 1600 yards and 26 touchdowns through the first 7 games. His 116 career touchdowns is second in VHSL history, 2 short of Staunton River's Grayson Overstreet, who would have shared the field with Basham Friday night in Moneta.
