Summary: What was a promising 2-0 start a year ago for Chatham quickly disintegrated, as the Cavaliers lost 7 of their last 8 games and just missed the playoffs. But coach Matt Allen has plenty of reasons for optimism. Returning 12 starters to this years squad, Allen says his players are stronger, not just in the weight room, but mentally, in order to survive any adversity they hit along the way. Ethan Reynolds looks for a big year at quarterback, with talented receivers there to help him out. The defense will be a key focus this year, after allowing the most points for a Cavaliers team since 2002. The important thing, as Allen puts it, is what the response will be when you get “hit in the mouth” with adversity mid-game. That response could signal how Chatham performs in 2018.
