E.C. Glass Hilltoppers hope to continue upward spiral

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - In the high school ranks, a lot of area teams were back at it Friday, including the E.C. Glass Hilltoppers.

High school teams are allowed 20 days of practice between now and opening night, which for many squads is four weeks from tonight, August 25th.

The Hilltoppers went from one win to six last year but BARELY missed the playoffs at 6-and-4.

Missing the postseason has been major motivation.

Jeff Woody, 3RD-YEAR E.C. GLASS HEAD COACH, said "The immediate Monday after we lost that Friday in the last game of the season we had about 25 kids show up and want to lift weights. They were hungry for it, they were motivated by the heartbreaking loss. They saw those seniors take off them shoulder pads and that helmet for the last time."

Our Football Friday 2-a-day previews kick off a week from this coming Monday, August 7th.
