AMHERST, Va. (WSET) - The Brookville Bees overcame a midgame slump to pull away from Harrisonburg, 35-7, and remain undefeated.

The game played at Amherst County on Thursday, due to the impending weather, started well for the Bees , as Zach Mann connected with Zach Thompson for a 59yd touchdown early, then hit Micah Glaize in stride from 31 yards out to make it 14-0 at the half.

Harrisonburg (1-3) turned up the pressure defensively, forcing three interceptions, along with several fumbles to keep themselves in it. Brookville, however, shut down the Blue Streaks offensive attack until the game was out of reach, blocking one field goal, and pressuring the kicker into two more misses. Several Bees interceptions and fumble recoveries put the game out of reach. Ryan North added two second half TD runs, including a 96 yard break, immediately after a Daquon Calloway interception in the end zone.

Brookville (3-0) is back at Stinger Stadium on Sept. 22nd, hosting Amherst County.

Rustburg picked up a statement win over Altavista on Thursday, 54-13.

After Colonels QB Jayllen Jones broke loose for a 74-yard TD run in the opening minutes, the Red Devils took control, snapping off 40 unanswered points to close the first half, and put the game out of reach. Jaydain Johnson tore down the sideline for an 83-yard score to put Rustburg in the lead for good.

Rustburg (2-1) hosts L.C.A. next week, while Altavista (2-2) travels to William Campbell.

The Tunstall Trojans got a breakthrough performance from running back Clay Hardy, who carried Tunstall to a 49-20 win over Chatham.

The senior running back dazzled for 238 yards and 5 touchdowns on the night in the Trojans win. Chatham got their passing game going in the 2nd half, creating problems for the defense. Cavaliers QB Ethan Reynolds threw for over 250 yards and 2 scores in the loss.
