LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - We are less than a week away from the State Games of America coming to Lynchburg.
Competition begins Wednesday, with Opening Ceremonies Friday, Aug. 2, at LU's Williams Stadium.
It's the FIRST time the event will be held in Virginia.
Dan Foutz, VIRGINIA AMATEUR SPORTS PRESIDENT, said "It was a coup for us to work with the City of Lynchburg and the folks here at Liberty University to win the bid to have it here. So we're really looking for the support of the community and the region and the state as well. So there are still opportunities for people to come out and compete."
Opening Ceremonies are Friday night, Aug. 2, 7 o'clock at LU's football stadium. Free admission for athletes competing, 10 dollars for spectators.
Friday's tailgate party runs from 4 to 6 at the indoor football practice facility.
