ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) - Starting in December, Dan Bremner showed what he could do in a short time as coach of the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.

Now, he'll get a chance to do it over the course of a full season.

On Tuesday, the hockey team extended Bremner's contract through the '19-'20 season. In 38 games as head coach he guided Roanoke to a 21-15-2 record and the first playoff appearance in franchise history. That run was highlighted by an eight-game winning streak that spanned from February 3-23 and was the longest winning streak in the SPHL during the 2017-18 season.

In addition, Dawgs general manager Mickey Gray received a promotion to the role of team president on Tuesday. Gray has been in charge of business operations since being hired as the Vice President of the team early in 2016. He later took on the title of General Manager during the 2016-17 season.
