Lynchburg beats Roanoke 13-8 for ODAC Lacrosse Championship
LEXINGTON, Va. (WSET) - The Lynchburg College Hornets are celebrating the program's seventh ODAC Lacrosse Championship, beating arch-rival Roanoke 13-8 in the championship game in Lexington.
Lynchburg had lost its only meeting with the Maroons this season back in late March, 13-11 at Roanoke.
Saturday night, the two teams played neck-and-neck the first half, a couple of IV Stucker goals gave the Maroons a 5-3 lead, only for Lynchburg to score the final two to make it 5-all at the break, Trammel Robinson four goals on the night.
The Hornets had a huge third quarter, scoring three goals in less than a 50-second span to go up 8-5 and take some huge momentum. Lynchburg outscored Roanoke 6-3 in the third to take an 11-8 lead to the final quarter.
Roanoke scored three in the third but never got closer than two, Jason Sarro connects for one of his two goals.

The Hornets tacked on two more in the fourth to complete the 13-8 victory, Lynchburg outscoring the Maroons 8-3 the second half.
The Hornets may have started the season 0-and-4, but they're this year's ODAC champions. Lynchburg finds out who and where it will play in the NCAA Tournament Sunday night in the Selection Show that begins at 9 p.m.
Steve Koudelka, LYNCHBURG HEAD COACH, said "That's the best lacrosse we've played all year and I'm proud of our guys to be able to put their best play in the most important moments of the year. We had not been able to do that all year and then finally we were able to do that this weekend. And that's what makes a great team."
