LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - E.C. Glass alum, and current UVa golfer Jimmie Massie completed a comeback on Sunday, claiming the title in a sudden death playoff against Roanoke's Justin Young in the Fox Puss Invitational Golf Tournament at Boonsboro Country Club.

Massie's first round 75 left him four over par entering the weekend. But strong rounds on both Saturday (68) and Sunday (66) put him in prime contention. After Young bogeyed 17, the two golfers found themselves in a tie, forcing a sudden-death playoff. On the 2nd playoff hole, the par-4 ninth hole, Massie's tee shot landed safely on the fairway, while Young ended up wide of the fairway in the wood, setting him back. Massie would safely two-putt the hole for a par to claim the title.

Massie's win is the 2nd in three years by a Lynchburg native and golfer with ties to E.C. Glass. Alum and current Virginia Tech golfer Connor Burgess claimed a rain-shortended title in 2016. Burgess tied Massie with a final round 66 on Sunday, earning him a tie for 9th place.
