Frank Beamer, Thomas Jones among inductees for Va. Sports Hall of Fame
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) - Virginia Tech coaching legends Frank Beamer and Chuck Hartman, along with former UVa star running back Thomas Jones were among the group of eight inducted Saturday night into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Saturday night's ceremony wrapped up a busy weekend for the new Hall of Famers, including receptions and autograph signings.
Joining Beamer, Hartman and Jones were baseball's Michael Cuddyer, basketball's Rick Mahorn, Kara Lawson and Megan Silva Schultz and veteran Roanoke Times writer Doug Doughty.
Frank Beamer, VIRGINIA SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE, said "I'm just very, very honored. I appreciate the opportunity to be with so many good, outstanding people and people that deserve to go into the Hall of Fame."
Thomas Jones, VIRGINIA SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE, said "So many talented people have come out of this state, so many talented athletes over the years. And to be honored as one of the best to ever come out of the state is a pretty big deal man."
