MADISON HEIGHTS, Va. (WSET) - One of the area's great baseball men passed away Saturday.

Amherst County and Lynchburg Sports Hall of Famer Leroy Floyd served 35 years as national director of Dixie Youth Baseball, 19 years as president of the Madison Heights Dixie Youth League.

He poured his heart into baseball and helping kids, also serving as a coach and umpire. The first games played at the Madison Heights Sports Complex in the 90s were on a field bearing his name.

Just a great man and a dear friend, Leroy Floyd was 79.
