BLACKSBURG, Va. (WSET) — Days after the Virginia Tech women's basketball team completed their best season in program history, Hokies fans got good news about next season.
Star center Elizabeth Kitley announced her return to the Hokies for the '23-'24 season on Sunday, using her COVID-year of eligibility to make another run with coach Kenny Brooks and Virginia Tech.
The 6'6" center had been projected as a top 10 pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, after repeating as the ACC Player of the Year. During this past year, Kitley averaged 18.8 points a game, and a league-best 10.7 rebounds a contest -- the only ACC player to average a double-double this season. Kitley also claimed ACC Player of the Week honors four times this past season - more than any other player.
Kitley's return gives a big boost to the lineup, alongside Georgia Amoore, who claimed Most Outstanding Player honors from the ACC Tournament, and the Seattle 3 Region. Senior Cayla King also has an extra year of availability, but has not announced if she'll return.
