Arizona teen asks Emma Stone to prom with 'La La Land' inspired video
PHOENIX, Az. (WSET) - One teen found a creative way to ask his celebrity crush to prom.
Jacob Staudenmaier, a 17-year-old student at Arcadia High School, is a budding filmmaker, and he really likes Emma Stone.
So, when it came time to ask someone to prom, he decided to recreate the opening scene to "La La Land" and ask the Academy Award winning actress, according to USA Today.
According to USA Today, Staudenmaier and several friends made the video Sunday, rewriting the lyrics to invite Stone to prom.
The video was posted to Twitter and has gotten over 3,000 reactions, and over 1,500 retweets as of Wednesday, April 5.
"It's going better than expected," Jacob told USA Today.
"It started with the kind of crazy idea of saying, 'Yeah, maybe I'll go with Emma Stone to the prom,'" he said. "I decided if I was going to do this, I really needed to do it big."
Staudenmaier says he hasn't heard anything from Stone, yet, "I've heard a rumor and sort of a confirmed truth that her mom has seen it. I assume at some point it will get to her."
So what will the teen do if she calls?
"I guess I'll just have to handle it on the fly," he said. "Just roll with it and go with the flow."
Staudenmaier says he has a backup plan if Stone doesn't get back to him.
"I have this girl that I know that says she'd love to go," he told USA Today. "Even if Emma says yes she said she would be completely fine with that."
So the teen could potentially end up with two dates.
"That's not a bad way to do it," he said. "That's a pretty good night."
