Tennessee mom charged with murder after kids, 3 & 4, locked in room, deprived of food
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities say a Tennessee mother is facing murder and abuse charges in the death of a 3-year-old girl and the hospitalization of another child.
A statement from the Madison County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday that says 27-year-old Chasity Yancey locked both children in a room and deprived them of food and water.
The statement says deputies responded to a call of an unresponsive child last week and took the girl to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead due to malnourishment and dehydration. Authorities say deputies searched the house and found a 4-year-old child who also was taken to a hospital.
Yancey is facing charges of murder and aggravated child abuse.
It wasn't immediately clear whether she has an attorney.
