Couple finds hidden camera in Air-BnB, owner installed it for sex parties
LONG BOAT KEY, Fla. (CBS12) —
It's trouble in paradise for a couple who found a hidden camera in their vacation rental in Longboat Key.
A couple had rented a place on Air-BnB to stay for the weekend, when they noticed a strange pinhole in their smoke detector. The couple found a camera inside, pointed straight at their bed.
The condo-owner, however, said everyone knew there was a camera. He said he had the camera installed for the sex parties he threw.
According to police, the hidden camera was not listed in the description of the listing. Lt. Bob Bourque from the Longboat Key Police Department explained, "He said it was for recording sexual activity, and his only response was it gave him a better angle. If people are consenting to recording sexual activity why is it in a hidden smoke alarm"?
The homeowner had been renting the condo through Air-BnB for two years. Police say there could be hundreds of people who were filmed without even knowing it.
Air-BnB banned the homeowner from listing properties on their site. He's also facing video voyeurism charges.
