Sunday's snow was one for the books

(WSET)

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- You've heard us mention that this recent bout with winter was good enough to break records. Sunday's snow was good enough to go down as the most snow our area has ever received on any day in December.

We hit the record books again Monday. This time we looked that the All-Time Snowiest Days. This storm made that list too.

In Lynchburg, our daily snow total of 11.5" is good for 9th on the all-time list.

Danville picked up 12.5" - this total is good for 4th on your all-time list.

Roanoke picked up 15" of the white stuff - that's good enough for 3rd on the all time list for snowiest days in Roanoke.

More fun facts about this storm. This is the earliest in the season these locations have gotten 11" or more of snow.

And, with the snow that we picked up Sunday, most are now only 1-7" away from becoming the all-time snowiest December on record, and we still have 21 days left in the month.

Winter is here, everyone!

Or at least it will be on December 22 (officially).
