BUCHANAN COUNTY (WSET) -- Virginia State Police have identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Saturday.

They say Terrance S. Blackburn, 36, of Buchanan Co., was shot by the officer. Blackburn died at the scene.

Officials say his remains were transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for autopsy and examination.

BUCHANAN COUNTY (WSET) -- Virginia State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed man by a law enforcement officer in Buchanan County.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office says they received a 911 call just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday about a suicidal suspect.

Officials say a Sheriff's Deputy and a Town of Grundy Police Officer were dispatched to the 1600 block of Old Home Creek Road in Buchanan County.

Before they arrived, officials say a second call came in from the same residence reporting the suicidal suspect was now armed and outside the residence firing his weapon.

When the Deputy and Officer arrived at the residence, authorities say a confrontation ensued and the male suspect was shot by the officer.

Officials say the male died at the scene.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation at this time. Stay with ABC 13 News for updates.
