The Commonwealth of Virginia is not appealing FEMA's decision to not provide individual assistance to Buchanan County flood victims, according to statement from Gov. Glenn Youngkin's office.

“At the request of local officials in the absence of any new information, state officials decided not to appeal FEMA’s decision and are directing individuals to further assistance through the Small Business Administration," the statement said.

FEMA previously said "it was determined that the impact to households and individuals was not of the severity and magnitude to warrant the designation of federal support through FEMA’s Individual Assistance program."
