LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Lynchburg VDOT is getting in on the LOVE sign trend.
Next week is National Work Zone Awareness Week and as part of it, VDOT is showing its love for the community with its own LOVE sign outside its building on Route 460.
The sign was made with materials and equipment that is used in work zones.
Employees signed some of the equipment used in the display. Those pieces are from the department's annual Workers Memorial vigil, which is held during National Work Zone Awareness Week.
"We want everybody to be aware of work zones, the dangers that are inherited and we would like everyone to go home safely at the end of the day and just to feel the love," says Paula Jones, the Lynchburg district communications manager.
This sign will remain in Lynchburg for several weeks.
VDOT then wants to take it on the road throughout its district, which includes ten counties.
