Va. faith organizations promote unity in face of travel ban
RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) - Several organizations came together to promote unity in Richmond. The Islamic Center of Virginia, Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, and the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy hosted the event.
Several speakers form multiple religions and backgrounds were there. Senator Mark Warner was there, too.
Organizers say the event was to "show support for those who have been targeted and to stand together against divisive rhetoric."
"It's really really important and valuable for me as a parent to teach tolerance and acceptance and understanding and to give my children the tools to go out into the world and meet people of all backgrounds," said Erin Mahone, a mom.
The event was held in response to President Trump's travel ban.
