U.S. Marshals caught fugitive near Old Dominion University

NORFOLK, Va. (WSET) - After a twelve-hour standoff, the wanted fugitive was found in the attic hiding underneath insulation.

Shortly after 2 A.M., the wanted fugitive has been taken into custody in Norfolk on an outstanding federal arrest warrant as originally reported by WVEC ABC 13.

The activity was centered around the area of West 43rd Street and Killam Avenue near Old Dominion University (ODU).

This arrest was a joint effort by the following law enforcement agencies:

  • U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force
  • Norfolk Police Department’s Fugitive Unit, Special Operations Team, and Canine Unit
  • Old Dominion University Police Department
  • Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)

Throughout the day, several other occupants of the residence were detained, including one person who attempted to flee on foot.

The suspect will have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court tomorrow in Norfolk. The name of the suspect is not being released at this time.
