ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — A road in Roanoke was closed on Monday morning due to an accident that left one man dead, Roanoke Police said.
RPD shared on Twitter that the 4000 block of Brandon Avenue SW closed due to a "major motor vehicle crash."

Preliminary investigation revealed that one vehicle was traveling east on Brandon Ave. SW when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another that was traveling west.
At this time, RPD said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Crews said the adult male driver of the vehicle that lost control was pronounced dead at the scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS personnel.
The adult male driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, RPD said.
The crash remains under investigation.
