CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WSET) - A white supremacist rally turned deadly Saturday, when one woman and two state troopers died.

The city of Charlottesville is still reeling, and several vigils are planned.

Below is a timeline of events surrounding the Unite the Right Rally.

Thursday, August 10:

  • Jason Kessler, who organized the Unite the Right rally, files a federal lawsuit against the city of Charlottesville, saying it was unconstitutional for them to move the rally from Emancipation Park to McIntire Park.

Friday, August 11:

  • A federal judge rules the rally can be held in Emancipation Park.
  • Governor McAuliffe releases a statement saying the National Guard, Virginia State Police, and other public safety officials will be on standby for the scheduled rally on August 12.
  • Hundreds of white supremacists carrying tiki torches march through the University of Virginia's campus. That demonstration turned violent.

Saturday, August 12:

  • The white nationalists and counter-protesters arrive at Emancipation Park before the scheduled start time.
  • At approximately 11:32 a.m., law enforcement rule it is an unlawful assembly after violence breaks out.
  • At approximately 11:52 a.m., Governor McAuliffe declares a state of emergency, because violence had broken out in the streets of Charlottesville.
  • Around 11:53 a.m., the University of Virginia cancels all campus activities, effective at noon.
  • At 1:19 p.m., President Trump responds to the chaos via Twitter.
  • At approximately 1:42 p.m., a car plows into the downtown mall, killing a woman, and injuring 19.
  • Just after 3 p.m., President Trump spoke in New Jersey, condemning the violence and calling for unity.
  • Shortly before 5 p.m., a Virginia State Police helicopter crashed, killing two troopers.
  • Saturday evening around 6 p.m., Governor McAuliffe holds a press conference, condemning the white supremacists and violence.
  • Officials reveal the suspect in the car attack as James Alex Fields, Jr.
  • Virginia State Police say three others were arrested.
  • Citizens gather for a prayer vigil late Saturday night.

Sunday, August 13:
