LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Big hats, mint juleps and all the fixings of a derby-styled party is what filled the Grand Ballroom at The Virginian Hotel on May 4, 2019.
Guests watched live coverage of the Kentucky Derby, a.k.a the "Run for the Roses," while enjoying live music and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
They also watched as officials disqualified the initial winner of the horse race, giving it to the second place winner.
However, many attended to support the purpose of the event, which is the Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living, Inc.'s efforts to meet the needs of aging adults and those who are disabled.
They enjoyed some gaming, raffles, a silent auction and carriage rides as part of the occasion.
And of course, lots of fabulous hats were on display.
