Slippery roads anticipated Sunday morning
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Slippery roads will develop in the Lynchburg, Danville and Roanoke area on Sunday morning as a winter weather system develops across our region.
Snow will briefly be possible in the Lynchburg, Danville and Roanoke area on Sunday morning before all precipitation changes to freezing rain, sleet then rain.
No measurable snow is expected locally. In fact, most locations will not receive any snow.
The most likely locations for snow accumulations are in the mountains and west of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Roads and sidewalks could become icy Sunday morning between 7 a.m. and lunch due to freezing rain and sleet.
All local locations will warm above freezing by afternoon, and road conditions will transition from icy to wet.
The rain will taper off by afternoon, and all locations will be dry by Sunday night.
