Sheriff's Office: Deputy injured trying to arrest wanted man
AMHERST Co., Va. (WSET) - The Amherst County Sheriff's office says one of their deputies was injured trying to arrest a man wanted out of Campbell County.
Officials say the deputy approached Brian Thomas on Thursday, around 4 p.m., in the Knights Inn parking lot in Madison Heights.
The Sheriff's office says when the deputy tried to arrest Thomas a fight broke out.
During that fight, officials say Thomas attempted to escape, but was taken into custody.
Both Thomas and the deputy suffered minor injuries.
Thomas has been charged with resisting arrest and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
He was taken to the Amherst Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond.
