Sheriff's: 3 arrested after man barricades self in home, pointing gun at deputy
ROCKBRIDGE Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Rockbridge County's SWAT team was activated Thursday after a domestic situation.
According to officials, deputies responded to the Dollar General Store in Glasgow after receiving a call about the domestic dispute the day before.
They said after speaking with some of those involved, deputies responded to the 1000-block of Kanawha Street to continue the investigation.
A deputy was confronted by Jospeh Ryan Brown, 33, of Glasgow.
They said during the confrontation, Brown pointed a pistol at the deputy before turning it on himself and going back into the residence.
According to officials, Brown barricaded himself inside.
The Sheriff's SWAT team was activated to back-up deputies already on the scene.
They said Sheriff Chris Blalock arrived with the SWAT team and ordered that a perimeter be set-up around the residence containing Brown and that the neighboring residences be evacuated.
Chief Deputy, Captain Tony McFaddin was able to establish contact with Brown in an attempt to deescalate the situation.
Officials said Brown laid down the pistol and walked out of the residence after 28 minutes of dialogue with Captain McFaddin.
He was arrested.
Brown has been charged with Brandish a firearm, Reckless handling of a firearm, Domestic assault and battery, Abduction, Strangulation, Possession of a firearm by a felon and Prevent person from calling 911.
Amy Lawrence, 33, of Glasgow has been charged with Possession of a methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
James Daniel Lewis, 38, of Glasgow has been charged with Possession of methamphetamine.
