FRANKLIN Co., Va. (WSET) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said they are investigating an incident from Wednesday night after they said a 55-year-old suspect was involved in a multiple car accident, shooting into two homes, and shooting himself at the end.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center initially responded to a crash at 400 Old Franklin Turnpike in Rocky Mount around 8:20 p.m. involving three vehicles.

They said John Robert Eames, from Rocky Mount, exited his crashed vehicle and brandished a firearm at a vehicle stopped in traffic.

Eames got into the passenger seat of that vehicle and the vehicle left, headed East.

At 8:36 p.m. the Emergency Communications Center received a call to Arrington Park Cir. in the Glade Hill section of the county where a man was threatening a woman with a gun.

The sheriff's office said Eames shot into one home in the area and then shot at another home.

As police officials arrived on scene by foot, they said Eames shot himself in the head, he was then taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

It was later determined by the sheriff's office that the abducted victim from the traffic crash was released without injury. Based on further investigation, deputies responded to Dillard Lane in Rocky Mount for a well being check on Dillard Nolen, 80, who was found dead from a gunshot wound, at that location.

Charges are currently pending for the Eames and the investigation is ongoing.

Any additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call Investigations Sgt. Nolen at 540-483-6662.
