PATRICK Co., Va. (WSET) - Patrick County officials say they found a body Thursday at the base of Lovers Leap.

Sheriff Dan Smith says investigators and search and rescue crews had repelled back down the mountain around 2:30 p.m. looking for Pillip Lilly's body.

Lilly had been reported missing from Henry County on December 29.

Officials say his vehicle was found about 500 feet below the overlook on Monday, and recovered on Tuesday.

Sheriff Smith says remains were found around 4 p.m. Thursday, several hundred feet below where the car had been found.

“At this point, the body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Roanoke for autopsy and identification,” Smith said.

Sheriff Smith says the Medical Examiner's findings will help determine if foul play was involved.
