Sheriff: 1 taken to hospital, suspect turns self in after shooting at Sheetz


    MADISON HEIGHTS, Va. (WSET) -- One person is in the hospital after a shooting at the Sheetz in Madison Heights late Saturday evening.

    Amherst County Sheriff E.W. Viar said the shooting happened just after 11 p.m. July 7 in the parking lot.

    There was a big pool of blood outside of one of the main entrances that several witnesses saw.

    The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance, Sheriff Viar said he didn't know his condition.

    Sheriff Viar said the suspect fled the scene, but later called the sheriff's office and turned himself in.

    Neither the victim's name or suspect's name has been released.

    Charges are pending.

    As of 12:45 a.m. Sunday, the Sheetz was still closed.
