Seven Lynchburg City schools reach full accreditation

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET)-- Lynchburg City Schools has more than doubled the number of fully accredited schools from three to seven since 2014-2015.

According to the school system, the following schools made the mark:

  • Bedford Hills Elementary School
  • Paul Munro Elementary School
  • R.S. Payne Elementary School
  • Sandusky Elementary School
  • Sheffield Elementary School
  • T.C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation
  • E.C. Glass High School

In addition, both Lynchburg City high schools, Heritage and E.C. Glass each saw increases in their Graduation and Completion Index (GCI). Graduation rates will be released later this month.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Larry Massie gave a "hearty congratuations" to the students and staffs of the fully accredited schools.

"We will continue to build upon our progress until we ensure that every school is fully accredited and every student is on the path to success," He says.
