CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Searchers are continuing to look for two people missing in Virginia after flash flooding earlier in the week.

Authorities in Albemarle County resumed their search Saturday around Ivy Creek for a person missing from a Toyota Prius swept away in flood waters. A second occupant in the Prius was found dead.

Search dogs were assisting with the effort.

In nearby Madison County, the sheriff's office solicited volunteers Saturday to try to find a woman reported missing in flood waters there in the area near Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria.

The searches Saturday occurred while the region remained under the threat of continued heavy rains.

In Albemarle County, teams had already conducted 500 damage assessments of properties in the Ivy area. The assessments will help determine eligibility for federal assistance.
