Although police are grateful for the offers from citizens to help with the search, they said it could hamper the ability for the dogs to track scents, which can interfere with the operation.
Police said they are also concerned that someone might sustain injuries while trying to navigate the hazardous terrain, pulling resources away from the operation to tend to them.
