Police: Wanted man barricades himself inside home, sets it on fire, gets burned

Police said officers responded to a home in 1100 block of Knight Street around 11:21 a.m. Thursday, October 11 in an attempt to locate Carroll Elwood Williams (BRRJ)

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Lynchburg Police Department said a 24-year-old has been arrested on seven outstanding warrants.

Police said officers responded to a home in 1100 block of Knight Street around 11:21 a.m. Thursday, October 11 in an attempt to locate Carroll Elwood Williams.

When officers arrived, Williams barricaded himself inside the home, police said.

While inside the home, police said he set the house on fire and was severely burned in the process.

After hearing Williams scream for help, officers went inside and took him into custody and then extinguished the fire.

He was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment.

Williams' outstanding warrants included abduction, wounding/injury by strangulation, domestic assault and battery, assault and battery, and three counts of violating a protective order.
