Police: Man killed after apparent home invasion

Roanoke Police are investigating two shootings within 15 minutes of each other (Roanoke Police)

ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Roanoke Police say one person was killed after two incidents that appear to be related.

They say officers found one man with gunshot wounds in the 1600 block of Eastern Avenue NE around noon.

He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Police believe the incident may have been a home invasion and the victim may have shot one of the suspects.

15 minutes later, officers found a man with a gunshot wound at the corner of Kennedy Street NE and Liberty Road NE.

Witnesses told officers two people who were with the man ran away before police got there.

That man was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he died.

ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- Roanoke Police said it's investigating a shooting in the 1600 block of Eastern Ave., NE and the corner of Kennedy and Liberty Road, NE.

Police said officers were called to Eastern Avenue around 11:45 a.m. Thursday where they found one victim that had been shot and the suspect had left the scene.

Police said the victim was taken to Carilion Clinic for treatment.

They said about 15 minutes later a call went out from Kennedy and Liberty about another individual who had been shot.

That victim was also taken to the hospital.

Police believe both incidents could be related.
