Police: Nelson County man killed after losing control of car, overturning in creek
NELSON Co., Va. (WSET) -- Virginia State Police said it's investigating a fatal accident in Nelson County.
Police said troopers responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 666 (Woodson Road) around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
They said Jamie Mays, 35, of Lowesville, was driving north on Route 666 about a quarter mile north of Route 630 (Dillard Hill Road) when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the left side of the road, hit a tree, and overturned in a creek.
Police said Mays was the only one in his vehicle.
He was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where he died from his injuries on Thursday.
Police said he wasn't wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
