Police: Mother, boyfriend charged with murdering 11-year-old girl
NORFOLK, Va. (WSET) -- Norfolk police said they have charged two people in connection to the death of a child.
Norfolk Police and Fire-Rescue responded to the 100 block of Balview Ave. around 8:15 a.m. Friday for the report of an unresponsive 11-year-old girl.
Officials said the child had 'serious injuries' and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said after investigating, they charged the child's mother, 22-year-old Latoya smith, and her boyfriend, 47-year-old Demonte Harris, with second degree murder.
Smith and Harris are currently being held without bond at the Norfolk jail.
