Police: Man killed after vehicle struck detached trailer in Henry Co.

HENRY Co., Va. (WSET) -- Virginia State Police are investigating after a man was killed in a crash in Henry County Sunday.

They said the crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. on Route 57, three tenths of a mile east of Route 619.

A vehicle was traveling west on Route 57 when it ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a detached trailer illegally parked on the shoulder of the roadway.

The driver, 55-year-old Brian Lane Bates of Martinsville died at the scene, police said. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
