Police: Man holds Pittsylvania Co. woman at gunpoint, flees from police

PITTSYLVANIA Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office says they received a call at around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday to respond to the 12000 block of Rockford School Road.

Police say the called reported a female family member was being held at gun point by a male subject in another location.

Deputies arrived to the residence and found a frightened female victim there.

The male offenders, who was identified as Randy Wade Francis by the victim, fled the scene as soon as deputies arrived.

According to police, Francis was in possession of a handgun.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office, Halifax County K-9 team and the Virginia State Police Aviation Unit conducted a 13-hour search of the area which resulted in the arrest of Francis without further incident.

Francis is charged with one count of abduction and one count of brandishing a firearm.

He is being held in the Pittsylvania County Jail without bond.
