Police: Man heard 'loud bang' before getting shot in the leg in South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (WSET) -- The South Boston Police Department said it's investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Police said officers were called to Carrington Street in South Boston around 12:35 p.m. Thursday, February 8 to a report that a person had been shot.

There, officers found a 22-year-old man sitting on the side of the road with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the leg.

They said the man told officers that he was walking with a friend when he heard a loud bang.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and appeared to be in stable condition, police said.
